Hydrant Counter Hydrant Mascot

Glen and Melissa Haas have been running The Hydrant Café in downtown Denton since August of 2008. Glen first began the business plan in 2003, while working at a coffee shop to learn the business. In August of 2004, he started the first location inside of North Central Texas College. The business developed within NCTC in Corinth, Texas and has continued as a favorite with customers in Corinth and Denton.

Since then, Glen and Melissa have collaborated to create the newest Hydrant Café on Oak Street, which they hope captures the personality and tastes of the Denton community. After long months of construction, painting, furniture and equipment gathering, and thorough employee training, the location on Oak Street opened to reveal a new hot spot for coffee in Denton! With the original porcelain tile exposed downstairs and historic mural upstairs, the location preserves some of the nostalgia of downtown Denton.

Our vision has been to sell fresh, delicious coffee at competitive prices and to develop long-term relationships with our customers. We also want to create an attractive social center for the surrounding community in a café setting, and preserve Denton’s historic heritage.

Our mission is to:

  • Offer great drinks, great music, and great location!
  • Develop genuine relationships that last
  • Set the pace for eco-friendly business
  • Impact the environment in a positive way
  • Give back to the community
